Ecobuilt Tile Roofs in Mission TexasConcrete roofing tiles usually come in one of two weights: standard weight or lightweight. In general, standard weight tiles are a better choice than lightweight tiles. The lightweight tiles tend to be more prone to breakage than their standard weight counterparts, often snapping under the weight of snow or heavy footfalls. Lightweight tiles are also more expensive. Although you may need to hire a structural engineer to stabilize your home if you use standard weight tiles, in most cases it will still be less expensive than a lightweight tile roof, and will also be more durable.

Most concrete tile roofs last for at least 50 years. Unfortunately, they may need to be replaced more often than that since the underlayment and batten systems have a much shorter lifespan, usually only lasting 30-40 years.
